“Current Issues in the Study of Hellenistic Judaism.” A panel discussion featuring Shaye J. D. Cohen (Harvard University), John J. Collins (Yale Divinity School), Robert Doran (Amherst College), and Yonder Gillihan (Boston College), chaired by Harold Attridge.
Special Program:
Graduate Student Lunch Panel: “Strategies for a Successful Academic Job Search”
We all know that finding a job in the current economic climate can be a real challenge. This special lunchtime session will provide an opportunity to hear advice from faculty at a variety of institutions on what constitutes a successful job application and interview. Please email cstroup@bu.edu to preregister for this program by April 1st.
Awards: An award will be given for the best student paper read at the meeting and submitted to the Program Committee. Junior members of the SBL (doctoral candidates at the dissertation stage and those holding the Ph.D. or equivalent for 4 years or less) are eligible for nomination as Regional Scholars. Regional Scholars are nominated from each SBL region for consideration of a National SBL award, and the possibility of presenting their papers at the SBL Annual Meeting in Baltimore, November 2013. Please consult the official SBL guidelines for Regional Scholar applications on our website.
NOTE: partial student travel scholarships for graduate student participants to attend the regional meeting may be available – please send a letter of application, CV, and paper abstract to shawna_dolansky@carleton.ca upon receiving official notice that your paper has been accepted for presentation, and no later than April 1, 2012.
